Plan UpdateOften referred to as “a roadmap for the future,” the Comprehensive Plan is a long-range vision document that captures community-driven goals and objectives to guide local decision and policy makers on the City’s growth and development.
The City of New Braunfels held the first Visioning Workshop for the Comprehensive Plan update on November 29th, at the Civic/Convention Center. If you were unable to attend the first Community-Wide Workshop you can still provide your feedback, view the presentation, and answer the visioning questions from the meeting at this link:
Your answers will be recorded and included in the plan!
If you would like to serve on one of the 9 advisory groups to help write and review the plan's content, here is a link to the
submittal form. To see the descriptions of each advisory group, click on the image below.

PurposeNew Braunfels' Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 1999 and updated in 2006. It serves as a guide for land use considerations with several components, including but not limited to:
- Bikeway and trail master plan
- Future land use plan
- Goals and objectives (2006 update)
- Thoroughfare plan (Regional Transportation Plan)
A new community-driven update to New Braunfels' Comprehensive Plan is currently underway. Citizens and residents are collaborating in a variety of engagement settings and in the early visioning stages. The new Comprehensive Plan will include the community's long-term goals and objectives that provide a high level guidance to policy and decision makers as well as recommending boards and commissions. A Comprehensive Plan website is currently under construction, but please check back often for new information. You may also follow the plan on Facebook.
