Most accident reports are available through the internet, which is the easiest and most convenient way to get a copy of an accident report. To find your report online, log on to the LexisNexis eCrash report search page where you will be able to search for your report, view it, and print it in the convenience of your home or office. 

We currently charge a fee of $6.00 for copies of the reports online (although effective Dec. 1, 2015, there will be an additional $5 convenience fee for requesting a report online). You can pay for your reports with a credit card using this secure site or you may contact the LexisNexis eCrash Support Line at 1-866-215-2771. 

All accident reports should be available the within 3 working days following the date of the accident. Accident reports are also available at the New Braunfels Police Department for a fee of $6.00. Payment must be made by check, cash, or money order. 

Traffic Accident Forms



Driver's Crash Report (blue form) - The driver of a motor vehicle involved in a crash not investigated by a law enforcement officer can use this form to report the incident for documentation and insurance purposes. This form, and the instructions that go with it, can be found on the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) website.  Follow this link for the instructions and a link to download the form.

Private Property Accident Form - As a courtesy the New Braunfels Police Department provides these forms to assist motorists in providing information to their insurance companies. These forms may only be used when an accident occurs on private property and is not required to be reported to the State of Texas.


Police Reports for Traffic Accidents



Copies of police reports for traffic accidents may be obtained by submitting a Public Information Request to the NBPD Records Division.
Requests for Public Information can also be completed in person at the New Braunfels Police Department (550 Landa Street), by fax at 830-608-2188, or by email.

PLEASE NOTE:  Requests for Public Information must be made in writing and should contain as much information as possible about the information you are requesting in order to expedite a response.  Please remember that requests should be for documents or other information that already exists.  Government organizations (like NBPD) are not required to answer questions, perform legal research, or comply with continuing requests to supply information on a periodic basis since that information has not yet been prepared.  Written requests can be sent in by U.S. Mail, submitted online, or submitted in person at the New Braunfels Police Department Headquarters (550 Landa Street New Braunfels TX 78130).  We recommend that you keep a copy of your request and proof of receipt for your personal records.

NOTICE: ALTHOUGH MOST INFORMATION IS READILY AVAILABLE, THE PROCESSING OF SOME INFORMATION MAY REQUIRE UP TO TEN (10) BUSINESS DAYS.  SHOULD PROCESSING TAKE LONGER THAN TEN (10) DAYS, YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PUBLIC INFORMATION ACT.


NOTICE: Texas Transportation Code Sec. 550.065(c)(4) restricts the release of unredacted crash reports to persons directly concerned in the accident or having a proper interest therein.
