City Secretary

The City Secretary’s Office is committed to serving the public, elected officials and city departments through excellence in performance, transparency, and customer service that is accurate and responsive.  The office is responsible for preparing City Council agendas and provides oversight to City’s Boards and Commissions, and Committees. Additionally, the office oversees the publication and codification of the City’s Code of ordinances and serves as the custodian of city records and the city’s public information officer as it relates to the Texas Public Information Act.   

The office also coordinates municipal elections and is responsible for the oversight of permits relating to city cemeteries, alcohol and beverage permits, river shuttle permits, downtown parking by permit, street banners, and road closures.  

In addition, the City Secretary’s Office serves as the liaison to the Heritage Commission and Arts Commission which are responsible for the allocation of Hotel Occupancy Tax to arts and heritage agencies in the community.  The office also serves as the liaison to the Partnership Committee.
