The New Braunfels Fire Department has announced the release of applications for the new, pilot Bedside Fire Alarm Program (BFAP) that provides free ADA-compliant fire alarms to eligible New Braunfels residents who are deaf and hard of hearing.
The City was awarded grant funds from the Community Good Neighbor Citizenship Company Grant from State Farm to implement the program.
“We are always looking to expand our program reach, especially to an additional high, at-risk population, such as the deaf and hard of hearing residents of New Braunfels” says Fire Chief, Kenneth Jacks. “The BFAP is a fire alarm and fire prevention program and provides a free LifeTone Bedside Fire Alarm to eligible deaf and hard of hearing residents, along with free installation, a tutorial on how to use the device and a free home inspection.”
Applicants must reside within New Braunfels city limits and have documentation of their impairment. Applications are available for pick-up at any New Braunfels fire station.
