The City invites the public to attend its upcoming meetings for the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan (CSWMP) that is currently underway. On Tuesday, September 25th, two public meeting sessions will walk-through the first half of the CSWMP.
The City’s consultant compiling the CSWMP and performing the analysis, SCS Engineers, will give a presentation that highlights current Solid Waste and Recycling Division (SWRD) operations, goals of the CSWMP, historical data, growth projections, and current needs. The City’s SWRD provides a variety of services, including commercial garbage collection, operating a drop-off center for recycling, residential collection of garbage, recycling, and Green Waste, and drop-off events for special waste streams.
The first session will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and will focus on SWRD services to the business community. The second meeting, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., will focus on residential SWRD services. Both meetings will be in Council Chambers at New Braunfels City Hall, located at 550 Landa St. All are welcome to attend either meeting despite the slightly different focuses.
The completed CSWMP will provide solid waste management strategies for City Council consideration that include benchmarks, improving operations, and increasing diversion over the next 20 years.
There will be two more workshops at a later date that present the recommended options to address the needs outlined at these workshops.
