Take note — Texas State University’s Shakespeare Ensemble will perform Much Ado About Nothing at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26th, at the New Braunfels Public Library, located at 700 E. Common St.
Much Ado About Nothing is a comedy in five acts written as William Shakespeare was approaching the middle of his career.
“Nick Lawson, a lecturer in the department of theatre and dance at Texas State University, approached me about offering this type of program, and I feel like this would be a great way to enrich the library’s mission of lifelong learning,” said Adult Services Librarian Jodi Brown.
Lawson said the Texas State University Shakespeare Ensemble formed to provide local communities access to the Bard in the manner is was originally intended — live performance.
“Without a budget to hide behind, our focus becomes solely on the story and making the language as accessible as possible,” said Lawson. “We feel strongly about our storytelling, which is why we thought local libraries would be a perfect place to perform. Who offers more stories to local communities than libraries? The Ensemble is thrilled to be back for a second year at the New Braunfels Public Library and hopes everyone will enjoy Much Ado About Nothing.”
This performance is free and open to the public. For more information about this or other library programs, call 830-221-4300 or visit www.nbtexas.org/library.
