April 22, 2019, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ New Braunfels Police Department / Training Room
The New Braunfels Police Department is proud to host Lt. Butch Matjeka of the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office to offer this unique training opportunity. Juvenile law is the unique body of law that applies specifically to juvenile offenders. While many constitutional rights are the same for both minors and adults, there are some key differences and many cases where the law treats a minor differently than an adult. This training is designed to provide LEO's and criminal investigators with an overview of the juvenile justice system and specific laws related to juveniles including interrogations, juvenile searches, fingerprinting and photographing, and more. This training will inform officers and investigators of the structural components of the juvenile justice system and the stages of criminal process from the detection of crime and arrest, investigation, and through pre-trial processes. This course meets and exceeds TCOLE requirements for Intermediate Arrest, Search, and Seizure #2108.
