Author, illustrator and self-proclaimed “lucha libre aficionado” Xavier Garza will be the featured speaker at this year’s Hispanic Heritage Celebration at the Westside Community Center, alongside Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin’s Ballet Folklórico De La Rosa, Comal ISD’s Chef Mario, artist Stella Olivas, Spanish singer Ixtchel Fisher, DJ Extreme Soundz and a special appearance by Chicas Calaveras.
The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Crafts, Zumba or baile Latino, food trucks and face painting are also planned.
Throughout the celebration, a block painting created by students of Stella Olivas will be on display.
The event is open to the public and free to attend, although Garza’s books and food from the food trucks must be purchased.

Bulky Goods Day is a free service offered to City of New Braunfels residents, once a quarter. The City operates four sites where residents drive-up and drop-off unwanted, bulky items for disposal. Maximum 5 oversized items and 4 whole passenger car tires. One load per household, per event.
Items can also be taken to the landfill - limitations apply.
