United Way Campaign

Every year, the City of New Braunfels proudly supports the United Way.  The United Way of Comal County (UWCC) plays an important role in the health and welfare of our city, and I am happy to provide employees the opportunity to support the services the multiple United Way agencies provide our residents.  Someone from your family, a friend, or someone you know may have benefitted from the service of UWCC this past year.  Now is the time to show the UWCC how much you appreciate them and the work their partner agencies do.

The United Way of Comal County serves 31 local, non-profit agencies.  These agencies ensure that your donations reach the many that need it.  These programs supported by United Way not only provide the basics of food, clothing, shelter and safety, they also improve the lives of the young, disabled, elderly and homeless in our community.  All money contributed stays in Comal County.

To show our support of the work UWCC does, I am challenging employees to raise $15,000 in this year’s campaign.

As an incentive, anyone who signs up for a 2021 payroll deduction will automatically be entered into a drawing for additional vacation hours; this year, we have 14 eight-hour prizes (for employees who currently accrue vacation)!  This vacation time is being generously donated by the City Manager, Assistant City Managers and our Department Directors.  To be eligible for the drawing, your completed pledge form must be turned in to Linda Mendoza, Impact Committee Secretary by Friday, December 11th by 12:30pm.

Even a very small contribution goes a long way in meeting our local needs.  Here are just a few statistics which show donations can make a big difference to those in need:

  • $5 will provide 50 pounds of healthy food to people in need who reside in Comal County.
  • $50 buys 160 diaper changes for homeless children.
  • $65 allows a child (from birth to age three) with a disability to receive a month of physical, occupational or speech therapy services.
  • $100 sponsors one patient visit at Volunteers in Medicine.
  • $500 sponsors a full year of treatment for one patient at Volunteers in Medicine.
  • $600 sponsors six months of a student scholarship at Kid’s Club.

You will receive a payroll deduction pledge form and brochure with more information about the United Way of Comal County.  This is a wonderful opportunity for each one of us to make a difference in someone’s life here in Comal County.  Remember, even a small contribution can make a big difference.  Please consider pledging to support your community.

Thank you for your support,
