Following the release of the 2020 U.S. Census data, the City of New Braunfels began work on redistricting, a process which uses the community’s changing demographics to reconfigure City Councilmember district boundaries.
A Redistricting Committee was appointed by City Council to work with the city’s consultant, Alan Bojorquez from the Bojorquez Law Firm, P.C. to review the Census data and make recommendations to City Council.
The Committee met on October 26, November 15, December 2, and December 15 to review population/demographic tables and draft maps. At the December 15 meeting, the Committee selected a map to recommend to City Council.
On January 10, 2022, City Council held a public hearing on the recommended redistricting map and adopted a final redistricting plan.
