Scheduling Downtown Special Events & Street Closures

San Antonio Street Safety Improvements
San Antonio Street through Downtown New Braunfels is a busy roadway with a mixture of pedestrian activity, vehicular traffic, and on-street parking. In some areas, these multiple uses can cause conflicts that make it difficult for drivers and unsafe for pedestrians. The City has identified a series of improvements to provide greater ease of movement for drivers, safety for pedestrians, and preserve on-street parking spaces. Primarily, these improvements are concentrated at the intersections of San Antonio Street and Academy Avenue, Comal Avenue, and Market Street and consist of adding curb extensions at the intersections to allow pedestrians and vehicles better visibility in the area.
Concept drawings for this project have been developed and the City is proceeding with a pilot project to demonstrate the concept, solicit feedback, and make refinements to the project prior to progressing to a more permanent solution.
