n July 4, 2016, at approximately 5:20pm, New Braunfels Police officers were called to the banks of the Comal River for reports of a missing person.
On July 4, 2016, at approximately 5:20pm, New Braunfels Police officers were called to the banks of the Comal River for reports of a missing person. Family members reported that a member of their group had last been seen going under the water in the area of the river just upstream from the Last Public Exit.
A dive team from the New Braunfels Fire Department entered the water a short time later and searched until dark when the search was called off until the next morning. On today’s date, at approximately 7:30am, a civilian snorkeler reported to authorities that he believed he had discovered a body under the water. The Fire Department’s dive team then retrieved the body from the river and the deceased man has since been identified as 47-year old Curtis Goldman from Universal City. Next of kin has been notified.
The cause of the drowning has been determined to be accidental and no foul play is suspected.
