ORIGINAL RELEASE: On today’s date (01-03-17), at approximately 10:54am, the New Braunfels Police Department and the New Braunfels Fire Department were called to the 300 block of I-35 south (southbound proper) for reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic accident.
First responders arrived at the scene and found an adult female unconscious and not breathing lying in the roadway. Paramedics transported the victim to Resolute Health Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The identity of the woman remains under investigation and next of kin has not yet been notified.
All of the southbound main lanes of I-35 in that area were closed for about 1 hour while the NBPD Traffic Unit conducted the fatality investigation. The investigation is ongoing and NBPD is investigating the incident as a hit and run fatality.
