On Sunday, March 31, 2019, at approximately 10:30pm, the New Braunfels Police Department was called to the Luxe at Creekside apartment complex in the 600 block of Creekside Way for reports of a disturbance.
Officers arrived and found that 3 adult males had been in a physical disturbance with a 4th male, and that the 4th male had fled into a nearby apartment. The 3 other males then attempted to locate the 4th male and mistakenly entered an uninvolved party’s apartment while brandishing a handgun. The 3 were immediately confronted by the resident and so they fled from the apartment. While in the process of making their way to the parking lot, one of the males accidentally discharged a handgun and shot himself in the hand/arm area. The 3 males then entered a vehicle and fled the scene of the apartment complex.
Approximately 30 minutes later, the gunshot victim was located at Northeast Methodist Hospital in Live Oak where he was seeking treatment. He has since been released from the hospital and there were no other injuries associated with this incident.
This incident remains under investigation by the New Braunfels Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and is believed to be an isolated incident with no further danger posed to residents of the apartment complex or the New Braunfels community as a whole. Anyone with information that could be helpful to investigators should contact Det. Tucker at 830-221-4145.
