Due to continued winter weather and potentially treacherous conditions on local roadways, City of New Braunfels facilities will once again be closed on Friday (Feb. 19, 2021).
Although driving conditions in and around New Braunfels have improved some, there are still many areas with unsafe conditions and everyone is asked to avoid driving if at all possible. For those that must be out on local roads, please do so with extreme caution. Avoid roads with bridges, overpasses, elevated surfaces, or those that are seldom used. Do not drive around barricades and please slow down.
Facility Closures
City facility closures for Friday include New Braunfels City Hall, Das Rec, the New Braunfels Public Library, Parks & Recreation administrative offices, the Landa Park Golf Course at Comal Springs, the Fischer Park Nature Center, the Municipal Annex, the City Recycle Center, and the Westside Community Center.
Trash & Recycling Collection
The city’s Solid Waste and Recycling Division has postponed all collections for the remainder of this week and will resume its normal collection schedule on Monday, February 22nd. Due to the delayed collection, each resident will be allowed up to 2 extra bags of trash without having to purchase excess garbage stickers. Residents are asked to please place those extra bags at the curb with their rolling trash bins ahead of their normal collection date. Also, as a result of the winter weather, the contractor for the city’s Household Hazardous Waste drop-off event has requested a postponement, so the event that was scheduled for Saturday, February 20th has been rescheduled for March 13th from 8am until 12pm. For additional information, please visit the Household Hazardous Waste website at www.nbtexas.org/hhw or call 830-221-4040.
City officials will continue to closely monitor weather conditions. Those conditions may prompt continuing or additional closures. Please remain weather aware and watch the forecast for updates.
Additional weather updates and city closure information can be found on the city website www.nbtexas.org.
