City Council Updates Face Covering Requirements at City Facilities

On the heels of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Executive Order GA-34 rescinding statewide face covering requirements, on March 8th New Braunfels City Council voted to continue requiring the use of face coverings in City facilities by the public...

when social distancing was not feasible. Council revisited that decision approximately one month later, at their April 12th meeting.

During that meeting, a discussion and vote resulted in the lifting of the face mask requirement, effective immediately. In accordance with the Governor’s order, members of the public visiting city facilities will be strongly encouraged to wear a mask or other face coverings, but they will no longer be required to do so.

City staff will continue to follow the City’s current COVID-19 policy that requires face coverings while at work and social distancing, among other safety measures.
