NBFD to Host Series of Community Events

The City of New Braunfels Fire Department is inviting the public to join them at a series of upcoming community events designed to give residents more up-close access and interaction with the Fire Department and its employees.

“We are quite literally opening the doors of our fire houses during these upcoming events, and we hope the residents of New Braunfels will take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about our department, our employees, and the services we provide,” said New Braunfels Fire Chief Patrick O’Connell.

Here are the details of the upcoming community events:

NBFD Central Fire Station Open House

July 3rd, 2021               10am to 1pm               169 S. Hill Ave.
Following the Independence Day parade in downtown New Braunfels, stop by NBFD’s Central Fire Station for a meet and greet with local firefighters, a fire-themed bounce house for kids, and a tour of the downtown fire station. Light refreshments will be provided and the Kona Ice truck will be on hand for snow cone purchases.

Fire Truck Push-In Ceremony at Fire Station #6

July 24th, 2021             10am to 12pm             209 Stone Gate Dr.
Help NBFD welcome the city’s newest fire truck to its home at Fire Station #6. This interactive ceremony allows the public to participate in a generations-old tradition of welcoming a new truck to the fire house, paying homage to firefighters in the 1800’s who would have to push their horse-drawn equipment back into the garage after returning from a fire. Participants will be given a commemorative souvenir of the event.  Cake and other light refreshments will be offered following the ceremony along with tours of Fire Station #6.

Movie Night at the Fire House (Fire Station #4)

Aug. 12th, 2021            6pm to 8:30pm           2210 Alyssa Way
A fun night for families at Fire Station #4 complete with a fire-themed bounce house! Open house including tours of the Fire Station are from 6pm to 7pm followed by Disney’s Planes: Fire & Rescue on a 144-inch projection screen inside the fire truck bay. Popcorn and other light snacks will be provided. Please bring lawn chairs or blankets to make yourself comfortable.
