The City of New Braunfels has announced an overall increase of approximately $762,000 or 22.7% in sales taxes received in August (for the month of June) compared to the same month last year.
When the various adjustments to the monthly payment are removed, net June sales tax collections increased by approximately 22.2%.
“With the release of the June figures, sales taxes through the first nine months of the fiscal year (October-June) are up 17.4% ,” said Chief Financial Officer Jared Werner. “The June payment of approximately $4.1 million dollars represents the largest sales tax payment of record for the City of New Braunfels. Growth in June was strong among a number of industries, with full-service restaurants, building material stores, manufacturing, and general services leading the way. The general services category experienced growth of nearly 70% in comparison to June 2020. This category includes most tourism and leisure-focused businesses, which was one of the sub-industries most impacted by the pandemic.”
