A suspect in the Jan 11, 2022, vandalism of the Comal County Democratic Party Headquarters on West San Antonio St. has been identified and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.
On Jan. 12, 2022, at approximately 4pm, officers responded to the area of Green Valley Road and FM 1044 for reports of a female standing in the roadway and throwing rocks and other items at passing vehicles. Officers arrived in the area and made contact with 38-year old Valerie Jean Riedel of New Braunfels, who was subsequently arrested for Public Intoxication and taken to the Guadalupe County Jail.
Based on a number of factors, to include the clothing she was wearing at the time of her arrest, it was determined that Riedel was the person responsible for the recent vandalism at the Democratic Party Headquarters.
This morning (Jan. 13, 2022), NBPD Detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant charging Riedel with Class A Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief, punishable by a fine of up to $4,000 and/or up to 1 year in jail.
As previously stated, an arrest warrant has been issued for Riedel and she is currently wanted by the New Braunfels Police Department.
