City Continues Seeking Feedback on Code Assessment Report

The City of New Braunfels is continuing the process of updating local development-related ordinances, and continues to seek input from the public throughout that process. The Land Development Ordinance project, or LDO, is a year and a half long effort to rewrite the Zoning, Subdivision Platting, Historic Preservation, and Sign Ordinances adopted by City Council. These ordinances outline local requirements for how to layout subdivisions, what can be built on lots, and how to design commercial signage. An initial assessment regarding the ability of these codes to effectively implement the City’s long range plan (called Envision New Braunfels) has been completed, and the public can view that assessment and provide input at www.nbtexas.org/ldo.

“The Assessment Report diagnoses the codes’ outdated requirements and ability to implement the comprehensive plan. It also takes into account community feedback we received back in January from the project’s initial survey, from which we received over 760 responses with thousands of individual comments,” said Christopher Looney, Planning & Development Services Director. “We want to encourage continued broad participation from the community in this key project, and, although input will be accepted throughout the duration of the project, we are hoping to gather as much input as possible on the initial assessment report by May 15th.”

For more information on the Land Development Ordinance Project, visit www.nbtexas.org/ldo, and input can be provided by emailing ldo@nbtexas.org.
